The People of the Monolith

A first edition copy of “The People of the Monolith”.
Studied in great detail by Pearl and Asenath Waite. A book of poetry written by Justin Geoffrey.

Justin Geoffrey, An English poet, who died in a lunatic asylum. Some years before, his already frail psyche had been warped by looking too much at the Black Stone of legend near the village of Stregoicvar. He never witnessed the annual, nocturnal rite of 24 June.
Geoffrey came from a family of merchants with no interest in art or poetry. Justin’s insanity began when, as a child, he went to sleep one summer night beside a long-abandoned, sinister-looking farmhouse. Afterwards, he developed an increasingly violent temper (in contrast to his family’s well known friendliness and sociability) as well as the habit of sneaking out of the house late at night to go exploring. Justin left home at the age of 17, after reluctantly completing high school.

“And upon dolphins’ backs was balanced a vast crenelate shell wherein rode the grey and awful form of primal Nodens, Lord of the Great Abyss… Then hoary Nodens reached forth a wizened hand and helped Olney and his host into the vast shell.”_
“Out of the void S’ngac the violet gas had pointed the way, and archaic Nodens was bellowing his guidance from unhinted deeps.”
“And hoary Nodens raised a howl of triumph when Nyarlathotep, close on his quarry, stopped baffled by a glare that seared his formless hunting-horrors to grey dust.”
